Mumbai, March 26 (NationPress) Shiv Sena legislator Sanjay Gaikwad on Wednesday called for the resignation of Shiv Sena-UBT MLA Aditya Thackeray regarding the Disha Salian death case. Gaikwad raised this matter following a complaint from Disha Salian's father, who named Thackeray, Dino Morea, and Suraj Pancholi in his report to the Mumbai Police Commissioner.
In the Legislative Council, Bhavana Gawli, another Shiv Sena leader, also demanded that Thackeray undergo a narco test in relation to the ongoing investigations.
Gaikwad insisted that Thackeray should step down and urged the state government to clarify its position on this matter. Before Gaikwad could finish, Mahayuti legislators gathered in the Well of the House, insisting on Thackeray's resignation.
In the midst of the uproar, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar adjourned the House for 10 minutes. When the assembly reconvened, members from the treasury benches continued to press for Thackeray's resignation.
Sambhuraj Desai, a Shiv Sena Minister, informed the Assembly that Disha Salian's father had filed a complaint naming Thackeray.
Desai stated, "In the case of the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, the state government has consistently asserted that it will not protect anyone. The same approach applies to the Disha Salian death case." He further noted that a SIT investigation is currently in progress, with the petition awaiting a hearing in the High Court.
The government will present the SIT report to the court, and subsequent actions will be taken based on the court's directives, he added.
Following the minister's comments, the ruling alliance members ceased their pursuit of the issue, and the assembly proceedings resumed without further incident.
On Tuesday, lawyer Nilesh Ojha, representing Disha Salian's father, informed reporters that the police commissioner's office accepted a written complaint from the father, which was included in the FIR.
He added, "Aditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Suraj Pancholi, his bodyguard, Parambir Singh, Sachin Vaze, and Rhea Chakraborty are all named as accused in the FIR." He alleged that Parambir Singh played a key role in orchestrating the cover-up in this case.
