Tragic Incident in Manipur: Two Bihar Migrants Killed by Gunmen

Imphal, Dec 14 (NationPress) Two migrant workers from Bihar fell victim to unidentified armed gunmen in Kakching district of Manipur on Saturday evening, according to police reports.
A law enforcement officer in Imphal stated that armed assailants shot the two migrant workers near the panchayat office in Keirak along the Kakching-Wabagai Road while the victims were cycling with a group of others.
Authorities were unable to immediately determine the identity of the assailants.
The deceased have been identified as Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dasharat Kumar (17).
Both individuals hailed from Rajwahi village within the Yadavpur police station jurisdiction in Gopalganj district, Bihar.
They were working in construction and were residing in a rented place in Kakching.
In response, security forces have initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
This incident is not isolated, as migrant workers have faced attacks in Manipur in the past.
Security forces are also conducting search and area dominance operations in vulnerable regions across the hill and valley districts.
During these operations, a cache of arms and ammunition was seized, including one .22 Rifle, one .303 Rifle, 49 live rounds, and various types of ammunition in Kangpokpi District.
Earlier that day, an armed militant was killed and six others apprehended following a significant exchange of gunfire between Manipur Police Commandos and a militant group in Thoubal District.
A substantial amount of arms, ammunition, and several electronic devices were recovered from the site.
A senior police officer in Imphal reported that militants attacked the Manipur Police Commandos at Salungpham Thongkhong during a routine patrol in Thoubal district.
The Commando personnel retaliated and managed to apprehend six militants, while one was injured in the confrontation. The injured militant later died in a private hospital.
All seven apprehended militants are affiliated with the PREPAK group, according to police confirmation.
