Kolkata, May 20 (NationPress) Tragically, six individuals lost their lives when a passenger vehicle collided head-on with a bus in the Mahishbathan-Kathalia region of West Bengal's Nadia district on Tuesday.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been revealed by the local police.

An official from the Nadia district police reported that a van, transporting passengers, was traveling from the Najirpur area in Nadia district to Digha in East Midnapore.

According to the police official, the collision occurred on the Krishnanagar-Karimpur state highway near the Mahishbathan-Kathalia area at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The van and the bus, which was also filled with passengers and coming from the opposite direction, collided head-on.

The collision was so severe that the van was crumpled, with the bodies of the occupants becoming trapped inside.

Following the crash, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree at the roadside of the state highway. Several passengers on the bus also sustained injuries.
