Agartala, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Tuesday that the BJP-led government is dedicated to enhancing the football infrastructure, contributing to the comprehensive progress of the sports sector.
While speaking at a reception ceremony for the newly inducted lifetime members of the Tripura Football Association in Agartala, he emphasized that football transcends mere entertainment; it instills discipline, team spirit, and dedication in the youth.
According to the Chief Minister, at least 80 new lifetime members were elected to the association. He, along with the attendees, distributed mementoes and certificates to these members, highlighting that Tripura is now prominently positioned in the sports domain.
“Athletes from outside the state are recognizing the advancements in our sports infrastructure and the performances of our athletes. The state government is implementing multiple initiatives for football development, including the establishment of synthetic turf and organizing day and night games. We are witnessing increased interest in sports from the tribal youth,” remarked the Chief Minister.
He credited the progress to the government’s genuine commitment to sports and its respect for athletes, underlining the importance of regular practice, hard work, perseverance, and a disciplined lifestyle for aspiring sportspeople.
“This government stands behind every talented athlete and is taking essential steps to nurture talent. The Tripura Football Association plays a crucial role in advancing football in the state, supported by various governmental plans,” Saha stated.
He added that engaging in sports is vital for keeping individuals away from detrimental habits and maintaining good health.
Prominent figures present at the event included Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, Mayor Dipak Majumder, and Tripura Football Association President Pranab Sarkar.
