PM Modi shared on X: "I had a productive conversation with President Trump regarding the developments in West Asia. India is in favor of de-escalation and aims for peace to be restored as soon as possible. Ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure, and accessible is crucial for the entire globe. We agreed to keep in close contact regarding our efforts towards stability and peace."

Throughout the call, both leaders highlighted the necessity of maintaining peace and stability in the region. PM Modi stressed that safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz is vital for global security.

Both parties committed to ongoing communication about measures to ensure regional safety and the protection of international shipping routes.

This dialogue comes against a backdrop of rising tensions in West Asia, following airstrikes by the US and Israel on February 28 that led to the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
