Uncertainty Lingers Over Allu Arjun’s Jail Release

Hyderabad, Dec 13 (NationPress) The uncertainty surrounding the release of renowned Tollywood actor Allu Arjun continued on Friday night as the Chanchalguda Central Jail officials had not yet been notified of the orders from the Telangana High Court, which granted him interim bail related to a stampede incident at a theater during the premiere screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’.
A significant crowd of the actor's fans gathered outside the jail, eagerly anticipating his release. However, indications suggest that the Pushpa actor might remain incarcerated for the night.
Allu Arjun’s legal team prepared two personal bonds worth Rs 50,000 each to be submitted to jail officials as instructed by the High Court.
A tragic incident occurred on December 4 when a woman lost her life and her son was critically injured during the stampede at Sandhya Theatre, which was attended by Allu Arjun during the premiere.
The police have filed charges under sections 105 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (Voluntarily causing hurt) in conjunction with 3(5) BNS against Allu Arjun, his security personnel, and the theater management.
The granting of interim bail followed a series of dramatic events that began in the morning when the actor was arrested at his residence in Jubilee Hills.
The bail was issued in the evening, shortly after a city court had placed Allu Arjun in judicial custody for 14 days.
The High Court provided interim bail for a duration of four weeks during the proceedings of the quash petition filed by the actor.
Allu Arjun received a temporary reprieve even as police were in the process of transferring him to Chanchalguda Jail from the Nampally Criminal Court Complex.
The High Court also granted interim bail to three members of the theater management, who were arrested earlier in connection with the case.
The Public Prosecutor voiced objections to the interim bail, leading the court to postpone further hearings until December 21.
During the hearing of the quash petition, Allu Arjun’s attorney contended that section 105 BNS was not applicable to him as he had no involvement in the stampede.
S. Niranjan Reddy, the actor’s lawyer, asserted that the actor should not be held accountable for the stampede. He also informed the court that the theater management and the film producer had notified the police in advance regarding Allu Arjun’s presence.
Niranjan Reddy referenced a similar incident in 2017 involving a stampede at Vadodara Railway Station during actor Shah Rukh Khan's promotional train journey for his film ‘Raees’. The Gujarat High Court dismissed the complaint against Shah Rukh Khan for the stampede, which resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, a ruling later upheld by the Supreme Court.
The Public Prosecutor informed the court that Allu Arjun proceeded to the theater despite a police request advising against it due to the potential for a large gathering. The court was made aware that the actor arrived at the theater in a rally.
The police, who arrested the award-winning actor at his home in Hyderabad, presented him before a magistrate at the Nampally Criminal Court complex. He was designated as accused number 11 in the case.
Earlier, police documented the statements of the actor at the Chikkadpally Police Station before taking him to Gandhi Hospital for a medical evaluation.
A police team, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Akanksh Yadav, detained the national award-winning actor from his residence in Jubilee Hills, just hours after he returned from Delhi, where he had participated in the success celebration of ‘Pushpa 2’.
Allu Arjun's father, acclaimed filmmaker Allu Arvind, his brother Allu Sirish, and other family members were present during his arrest.
The police team interrogated Allu Arjun for approximately two hours, considering the eyewitness accounts.
