Allu Arjun to Make Virtual Court Appearance in Theatre Stampede Case

Hyderabad, Dec 27 (NationPress) Actor Allu Arjun is preparing to appear virtually before the Nampally Court later on Friday in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case.

The actor has submitted a petition for regular bail, which is expected to be considered later today.

Allu Arjun was taken into custody on December 13 due to allegations related to the tragic stampede that occurred on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, resulting in the death of a woman.

The Nampally Court had ordered the actor to remain in judicial custody for a duration of 14 days. His legal team subsequently approached the High Court, which granted him interim bail on the same day.

The High Court instructed him to file for regular bail with the trial court. As the actor, designated as accused number 11 in the case, was released from Chanchalguda Jail the next day.

With the end of the 14-day judicial remand set for December 27, the actor is required to present himself before the court for ongoing procedures.

Allu Arjun’s attorneys have requested the court's consent for his virtual presence, citing concerns that his physical presence may lead to disorder at the court premises.

The actor’s lawyers, Niranjan Reddy and Ashok Reddy, have submitted a regular bail application. The police interrogated Allu Arjun on December 24, questioning him for three hours at Chikkadpally Police Station, based on a 10-minute video compiled from CCTV footage of the incident.

The police released this video to counter the actor’s claims regarding the event.

During an Assembly session on December 21, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticized Allu Arjun for visiting the theatre without police authorization and for conducting a ‘roadshow’ prior to entering the theatre and following the stampede.

Shortly after, Allu Arjun held a press conference, labeling the accusations as baseless and expressing that he felt victimized by character assassination.

In the aftermath of the stampede, the police charged the theatre management, Allu Arjun, and his team with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
