UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak Claims Rahul Gandhi's Sambhal Trip is Politically Motivated

New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak asserted on Wednesday that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s trip to Sambhal is merely aimed at political advantage.

"The Congress party is pursuing political interests; they are arriving to garner votes. You may come and celebrate once tranquility is reinstated; we have no objections to that," the Minister commented.

In contrast, the Congress party accused the government of permitting disorder in the area. However, the Deputy CM dismissed these claims, emphasizing that the administration is undertaking all essential measures to guarantee justice and stability.

He reiterated the state government’s dedication to upholding law and order, stating, "This government represents the people, firmly standing alongside its citizens. We are doing everything within our power to restore peace and order in the area."

Rahul Gandhi, along with newly-elected Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and five party MPs from Uttar Pradesh, is scheduled to visit the Sambhal district. Numerous Congress supporters gathered at the party's headquarters and at the Delhi-UP border in Ghazipur.

To ensure public safety, Section 144 has been enacted in Sambhal, limiting gatherings. Addressing the ongoing investigations, the Deputy CM assured, "An unbiased and thorough inquiry is in progress regarding the incident in Sambhal. I urge all political leaders to support the administration in reestablishing peace. Stringent action will be taken against anyone found culpable."

Raising a significant issue, the Deputy CM disclosed that "Pakistani cartridges have been recovered, and investigations are ongoing. If any foreign links are discovered, it will raise even greater concern."

Sambhal has been in a state of tension since November 19, when a court-ordered assessment of the Mughal-era Shahi Jama Masjid led to allegations that a Harihar temple once existed at the location. Violence erupted during a second survey on November 24, resulting in clashes between protesters and security personnel.

Rahul Gandhi's upcoming visit is set against the backdrop of restrictions on the entry of outsiders imposed by the district administration until December 10, following the violence during the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid.
