Key Takeaways
Agra, March 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, announced on Saturday that the state government is formulating a new policy aimed at promoting private sector investments in the establishment of super specialty hospitals and facilitating the launch of new private medical colleges.
"We have already made policy adjustments to support the growth of private hospitals. Our goal is to have the private sector enhance government initiatives in increasing the number of medical colleges," Adityanath stated during the inauguration of a private hospital in Agra.
He emphasized that when the government, community, and institutions align their efforts, the result is trust. "Today, Uttar Pradesh stands as a representation of that trust," he remarked.
Furthermore, Adityanath mentioned that the BJP government is striving to ensure that medical supplies and equipment used in the state are domestically produced.
To support this goal, plans are underway to develop a pharmaceutical park and a medical device park in Lalitpur, spanning 1,500 acres, and another in the Yamuna Expressway area near Agra, covering 350 acres.
"We are also establishing two centers of excellence for medical technology at IIT-Kanpur and the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences," he added.
Healthcare, according to the Chief Minister, is a fundamental need for every person, and individuals rightfully expect quality treatment and dependable medical services. While the government continues to make strides in this area, private sector involvement is vital for enhancing the availability of quality healthcare.
Adityanath recounted his administration’s success in eradicating encephalitis from Eastern Uttar Pradesh, a disease that had previously plagued the region.
"Unlike the previous government, which fostered a ‘one district, one mafia’ ideology, we, in partnership with Prime Minister Modi’s government, have successfully achieved ‘one district, one medical college’,” the Chief Minister stated.
Criticizing the former Samajwadi Party regime, Adityanath said, "Their focus was on nurturing mafia operations, whereas we have prioritized enhancing health services by establishing more medical colleges."
Highlighting advancements in the health sector, he noted that before 2014, India had only six operational AIIMS institutions, whereas now 23 world-class AIIMS institutions are active across the nation.
In Uttar Pradesh, there were merely 17 medical colleges until 2017. However, with the implementation of the ‘One District, One Medical College’ initiative, nearly 81 medical colleges are either operational or under construction in the state’s 75 districts, in addition to two AIIMS located at Gorakhpur and Raebareli.
He asserted that free dialysis and CT scan services are now accessible in every district, along with other medical amenities. Efforts are also in place to introduce the latest medical technologies available worldwide to the state, including telemedicine services.
According to the Chief Minister, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, initiated by PM Modi, has become one of the largest healthcare schemes in the country, benefiting nearly 60 crore individuals nationwide.
In Uttar Pradesh, over 5.7 crore Golden Cards have been issued, allowing beneficiaries to access free medical treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh under the scheme. "Additionally, I have allocated Rs 1,300 crore from the Chief Minister’s Fund for the treatment of those in need," he stated.
He also highlighted that the double-engine government has implemented welfare initiatives alongside development, enabling over 6 crore individuals to rise above the poverty line and lead fulfilling lives.
