Uttar Pradesh Government Establishes New District for Prayagraj's Maha Kumbh Region

Prayagraj, Dec 2 (NationPress) In anticipation of the forthcoming Maha Kumbh Mela, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, has made a pivotal decision by designating the Maha Kumbh area in Prayagraj as a new district.

This decision, which was made on a recent Sunday, facilitates the establishment of the new Maha Kumbh Mela district aimed at optimizing the management and administration of the major religious event set for January 2025.

The new district will be officially referred to as Maha Kumbh Mela.

The motivation behind this initiative was articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the Magh Mela 2024, prior to the Mahakumbh 2025 festivities.

On December 13, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Uttar Pradesh for a review of the preparations for the Mahakumbh 2025 and to inaugurate several significant development projects.

This action aims to ensure effective management of the Kumbh Mela and improve administrative functioning.

"I, Ravindra Kumar Mandad, District Magistrate, in accordance with the directives issued in the Government's letter dated November 25, 2024, utilizing the authority granted under Section 2 (th) of the Uttar Pradesh Prayagraj Mela Authority, Prayagraj Act, 2017, hereby announce the formation of the Mahakumbh Mela District for the organization of Mahakumbh 2025," stated the official government communication.

The order further clarifies: "The boundary of the Mahakumbh Mela District will encompass the specified areas of revenue villages and the entire parade area detailed in Annexure-I to be included in the Mahakumbh Mela District/Mela Area."

"Within the Maha Kumbh Mela district/Mela area, the Mela Adhikari, Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj, will hold the powers of Executive Magistrate, District Magistrate, and Additional District Magistrate under Section-14 (1) and other pertinent sections of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, as well as all the powers attributed to the District Magistrate under this Code or any other applicable law, and will possess the authority to exercise all functions of the Collector under Section-12 and other relevant sections of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006 (amended by the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code (Amendment) Act, 2016 (U.P. Act No. 4, 2016)) by appointing an Additional Collector in the designated district. This order is effective immediately," the statement continued.

The upcoming Maha Kumbh, held once every 12 years, is slated to commence on January 13 and conclude on February 26, 2025, in Prayagraj.

The Maha Kumbh is anticipated to be a significant event in showcasing Indian culture.
