New Delhi/Kolkata, April 19 (NationPress) Senior leaders from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have established a comprehensive, technology-enhanced security framework for the West Bengal Assembly elections in 2026, with Phase 1 set for April 23 and Phase 2 on April 29, according to an official announcement on Sunday.

The strategic meeting held in Salt Lake on Saturday was attended by the Directors General (DGs) of CRPF, BSF, CISF, SSB, and ITBP, who emphasized inter-agency collaboration to guarantee a free, fair, and transparent election, as stated by the official.

During the review, security officials assessed the placement of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and anti-sabotage measures, ensuring that the Integrated Security Grid is fully equipped to address potential disturbances in partnership with local law enforcement.

The main goal of these forces is to facilitate an election where every citizen can cast their vote without fear or intimidation, the statement clarified.

As the first phase of voting approaches on April 23 across 152 constituencies, this coordinated effort marked the final operational preparation for the thousands of personnel on site.

Post-review, a joint assembly took place at the 3rd Signal Centre, CRPF, Salt Lake, led by Salabh Mathur, IG, CRPF (State Force Coordinator), involving leaders from CISF, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, and the West Bengal Police, along with the Election Commission’s Police Advisor.

Praveer Ranjan, Director General of CISF, remarked: “Our role in West Bengal goes beyond standard security; it is about upholding the integrity of the ballot.”

He emphasized: “To all personnel present, remember: you are the protectors of democracy. We must operate not as separate entities, but as ‘One Election Force’—united, disciplined, and technologically proficient.”

As the state gears up for the initial phase on April 23, CAPF leaders stressed the importance of leading by example. Supervisory officers have been assigned the responsibility of setting high standards of conduct and turnout.

The deployment strategy encompasses thorough monitoring of sensitive areas and mandates the use of the Election Duty Handbook by all personnel to ensure complete adherence to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The meeting wrapped up with a boost in morale among the ranks, reassuring the electorate that the security framework is entirely prepared to ensure a safe and peaceful voting experience throughout West Bengal.
