Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, February 7 (NationPress) The process of registering for wheat procurement at the minimum support price (MSP) for the Rabi Marketing Year 2026-27 commenced on Saturday throughout Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reassured farmers that they will receive equitable compensation for their hard work.
The Chief Minister announced that a total of 3,186 registration centres have been established across the state to streamline the process, which will be available until March 7.
"The registration for wheat procurement started today, February 7, and will run until March 7. The government has set up 3,186 registration centres across Madhya Pradesh for farmers' ease. The state government is dedicated to ensuring that farmers are compensated fairly for their efforts," Yadav shared on X.
On February 3, during a press briefing, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput mentioned that farmers can register for free at facilitation centres located at Gram Panchayat and Janpad Panchayat offices, tehsil offices, and centres managed by cooperative societies and marketing institutions.
For farmers opting for paid services, registration options are available at MP Online kiosks, Common Service Centres, Public Service Centres, and private cyber cafes, with a fee not exceeding Rs 50 per registration, as mandated by district collectors.
Verification will require valid documents, including land records, Aadhaar card, and other forms of photo ID. Aadhaar-based verification is essential and can be completed through an OTP sent to the registered mobile number or via biometric authentication. The name on the Aadhaar card must match the land records; any discrepancies will be resolved through verification at the tehsil office before approval.
Special provisions are in place for tenant farmers, sharecroppers, Kotwars, and forest land leaseholders. These farmers can only register at cooperative society-operated centres, followed by complete verification by the Revenue Department. Institutions or operators found ineligible in previous years will not participate in the current process.
The Centre has set the MSP for wheat at Rs 2,585 per quintal for 2026-27, marking an increase of Rs 160 from the previous year.
Payments for procured wheat will be prioritized and transferred to farmers’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. If issues arise regarding Aadhaar linkage, payments may be made to the bank account details provided during registration, which include bank name, account number, and IFSC code. However, inactive joint accounts and accounts with private service providers will not be accepted.
District collectors have been directed to keep Aadhaar enrolment centres at district and tehsil levels operational for updates, including biometric corrections. Farmers can also access Aadhaar services at post offices, while coordination with banks will facilitate account linkage.
