Kanpur, April 9 (NationPress) Babita Chauhan, the Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission, stated on Thursday that the Women’s Reservation Bill is a significant step towards integrating women into the mainstream. She believes that once women occupy decision-making positions, the societal landscape is poised for a remarkable transformation.
In an interview with IANS, Chauhan expressed, "This initiative will enable women to engage with the mainstream, and as I previously stated, once they enter decision-making roles, I foresee a considerable shift in the environment. Even today, I can confidently say that in workplaces with both men and women, women often demonstrate a higher degree of integrity. Therefore, when both genders collaborate effectively, the outcomes are bound to improve even further in the future."
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s piece regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, she remarked: "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister on behalf of all women. I am genuinely appreciative of the fact that we are now on the brink of achieving 33% reservation for women. This collective aspiration, which we have nurtured since childhood, is finally becoming a reality. I am deeply grateful to the Prime Minister, who consistently emphasizes that women represent half of our nation's population."
Earlier, PM Modi highlighted the urgent necessity for reservations for women in legislative assemblies, describing this as a transformational measure that will enhance the vibrancy and participatory nature of India’s democracy.
