Jaipur, Feb 4 (NationPress) In celebration of World Cancer Day, which is recognized every year on February 4 to promote awareness about cancer, residents of Rajasthan have commended the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PM-JAY) for its life-changing effects on cancer sufferers.
This initiative, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23, 2018, has become a crucial support system for numerous families, offering complimentary treatment for severe health conditions in both private and government healthcare facilities.
By alleviating the financial strain of medical expenses, PM-JAY guarantees that even the most financially challenged individuals can receive essential healthcare.
Individuals battling cancer in Rajasthan, particularly those undergoing treatment through this program, have expressed their heartfelt thanks for the assistance received.
Rohitas Kumar from Bikaner, whose father is currently receiving cancer treatment at Acharya Tulsi Cancer Hospital, shared his experiences with IANS regarding the advantages of the program.
"My father's treatment is being conducted under PM Modi's Ayushman Arogya Yojana, which provides insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family. This has been a tremendous relief for us," he remarked.
He also pointed out the recent announcement in the Union Budget that exempts tax on over 36 high-cost cancer medications, enhancing the affordability of treatment.
"I encourage more individuals to enroll in this program so that everyone can gain from it. The care here is outstanding, and greater awareness should be raised about the initiative," he added.
Santosh Bishnoi, whose sister-in-law is fighting cancer, shared similar feelings.
"She is receiving free care at Acharya Tulsi Devi Hospital through the Ayushman Yojana. We are thankful to the Prime Minister for making this possible," he stated.
A cancer patient conveyed to IANS, "I express my gratitude to PM Modi for this initiative. I also encourage others in need of treatment to obtain their cards. It is genuinely a blessing for us."
Dr. Shankar Lal from Acharya Tulsi Cancer Hospital highlighted the importance of the program in providing equitable healthcare.
"Once a family is registered under PM-JAY, all its members receive health insurance coverage. Patients can get treatment at any empaneled government or private hospital," he explained.
"For cancer patients, if the designated insurance amount is depleted due to expensive treatments, there is a provision to extend the financial coverage. This ensures that patients can continue receiving care without financial burdens. It is indeed a blessing for those in need," he added.
Additionally, Dr. Lal noted that individuals who have not yet acquired an Ayushman Card can still access treatment under the Chief Minister Nirogi Rajasthan Yojana, ensuring that no one is deprived of medical care.
This initiative continues to profoundly impact the lives of cancer patients, reaffirming the government's dedication to accessible and affordable healthcare for everyone.
