AIIMS and CSIR Join Forces for Advancements in Healthcare and Technology

New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), located in New Delhi, has officially declared a collaborative agreement with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to foster partnerships in healthcare, emerging technologies, their applications, and the development of policies.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is set to enhance ongoing dialogues and facilitate innovative solutions aimed at tackling healthcare issues in the nation.

“The significance of harnessing the strengths of these two leading institutions will greatly benefit translational research and will be crucial in providing superior patient care,” remarked Prof. M. Srinivas, the Director of AIIMS.

CSIR is a prominent research body with a vast network of laboratories, outreach centers, and innovation hubs throughout India. It is recognized for its extensive knowledge base in various scientific and technological domains.

In partnership, CSIR and AIIMS will work collaboratively to advance medical research, improve healthcare delivery, and address urgent health concerns within India. This collaboration will merge the clinical proficiency of AIIMS with the research and technological expertise of CSIR to transform healthcare innovations.

“This collaboration is expected to lead to major advancements in research, benefiting patient care and overall scientific development in the country,” stated Dr. Vinay Nandicoori, Director of CSIR-CCMB.

The AIIMS-CSIR alliance signifies the start of a transformative journey, encouraging innovation and devising impactful solutions to meet healthcare challenges in India.

AIIMS and CSIR have a history of previous collaborations on various projects. Currently, they are engaged in a pilot initiative to convert biomedical waste into soil additives. CSIR has also tested this technology on biomedical waste in partnership with AIIMS.

Moreover, AIIMS Bhopal is utilizing a molecular PCR-based diagnostic test created by CSIR-CCMB to assist patients suffering from sickle cell disease. This collaboration extends to joint research efforts focusing on sickle cell disease and genetic health.
