New Delhi, January 29 (NationPress) The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, located in New Delhi, has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to create a nationwide collaborative framework aimed at enhancing biomedical and clinical research across India.

This groundbreaking agreement, celebrated on AIIMS Research Day 2026, is designed to promote collaborative research projects, multi-institutional studies, clinical trials, researcher exchanges, and the systematic sharing of knowledge and best practices within the AIIMS network.

The institutions involved in this initiative include AIIMS branches in New Delhi, Bathinda, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bibinagar, Bilaspur, Deoghar, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kalyani, Madurai, Mangalagiri, Nagpur, Patna, Raebareli, Raipur, Rajkot, and Rishikesh.

Prof. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi, stated, “The establishment of this collaborative research consortium demonstrates our unified commitment to advancing high-quality, nationally significant research. By harnessing the strengths of AIIMS institutions throughout India, we aim to generate solid scientific evidence, foster innovation, and support informed decision-making in healthcare. This platform will evolve as a pivotal driver of collaborative research in the future.”

The research initiatives will also encompass emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, cost-effective cancer treatments, healthcare-associated infections, and metabolic disorders.

The MoU mandates the appointment of nodal officers and designated points of contact in each institution to ensure effective coordination and execution of collaborative activities.

This national research consortium is anticipated to bolster research capacities, speed up the application of scientific discoveries in healthcare solutions, and contribute to policy-making grounded in evidence across the nation.

Prof. Nikhil Tandon, Dean of Research at AIIMS Delhi, emphasized, “The pan-India research consortium offers a structured approach to conduct extensive, multi-institutional studies vital for tackling complex health issues. By standardizing research protocols, sharing expertise, and utilizing the diverse patient demographics across AIIMS institutions, this collaboration will enhance research quality, improve reproducibility, and facilitate quicker translation of evidence into clinical practice and public health strategies.”

AIIMS Research Day 2026, scheduled for January 29-30, aims to provide a platform for showcasing institutional research priorities, encouraging discussions on emerging scientific challenges, and reaffirming the AIIMS network's role in promoting evidence-based healthcare and policy in India.
