AIIMS Delhi Partners with Blockchain For Impact to Propel Biomedical Innovations in India

New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi announced on Friday a partnership with Blockchain For Impact (BFI) to advance biomedical research and innovation within the public health sector.
According to the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), BFI will assist in a project that investigates genetic and epigenetic factors to discover potential markers for recurrent urinary tract infections.
Recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTI) pose a significant healthcare and economic burden, greatly affecting patient morbidity and quality of life.
The project, spearheaded by Dr. Sarita Mohapatra, Additional Professor in the Department of Microbiology at AIIMS Delhi, is funded through the BFI-BIOME Medical INI Grant Programme, which aids Medical Institutes of National Importance (INIs) via the Blockchain For Impact Biomedical Virtual Network (BFI-BIOME).
This network, established by BFI, aims to promote multisectoral collaboration, support in-depth scientific research, and drive innovation to enhance biomedical research across India.
AIIMS Delhi encompasses 25 clinical departments and four super-specialty centers. Its research endeavors have significantly contributed to fighting infectious diseases like leprosy, malaria, and tuberculosis, alongside non-communicable diseases such as diabetes.
The collaboration with AIIMS Delhi aligns seamlessly with BFI’s objective to expedite transformative healthcare solutions through pioneering biomedical innovation.
"At AIIMS New Delhi, we are dedicated to propelling healthcare innovation through advanced research and technology. The backing from the BFI-BIOME Medical INI Grant Programme empowers us to explore new horizons in medical science, enabling our faculty and researchers to contribute significantly to global healthcare," stated Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi.
“The BFI-BIOME initiative signifies a vital shift by promoting collaboration among top biomedical researchers, clinicians, and innovators to develop the next wave of health interventions. Partnering with AIIMS Delhi is a progressive move for us, reinforcing our commitment to bolster the healthcare ecosystem in India,” remarked Sandeep Nailwal, the visionary founder of BFI.
This collaboration between AIIMS Delhi and BFI represents a crucial landmark in the BFI-BIOME Network Programme's ongoing efforts to push forward biomedical research and innovation in India.
By encouraging innovation and equitable access, BFI aspires to construct a transformative healthcare ecosystem that tackles the country’s most urgent medical challenges.
