Coimbatore, Oct 2 (NationPress) Arjun Prasad from Delhi, in his quest for a first title, delivered the best performance of the day with a score of four-under 68, extending his lead to a formidable six shots after the third round of the Rs 1 crore Tamil Nadu Open 2025 at the Coimbatore Golf Club.

The 26-year-old golfer (70-70-68), who had been leading by just one shot overnight, boosted his total to eight-under 208 after the penultimate round.

Sri Lankan player N. Thangaraja (72-73-69) climbed six positions with a round of 69, sharing the second spot with a total score of two-under 214. Arjun Sharma (72-72-70) from Noida, who achieved an eagle in his round, also moved up four places to tie for second.

Twenty-year-old Anshul Kabthiyal (74-69-71) from Delhi scored 71, advancing three spots to join the three-way tie for second place. Jamal Hossain from Bangladesh, who was second overnight, fell to fifth after carding a 74 on Thursday. S Prasanth from Chennai is currently in 52nd place at 20-over 236.

Arjun Prasad, ranked second in the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit, showcased a consistent front-nine with one birdie and one bogey. His back nine was particularly impressive, where precise wedge shots led to four birdies between the 10th and 15th holes. He finished the day with a bogey and a birdie on the final holes.

Reflecting on his performance, Arjun stated, “I began well and maintained a strong phase with a series of pars to keep the ball in play. On the back nine, I got closer to the hole and collected more birdies.”

“I believe I have executed my game plan effectively thus far. I have hit solid tee shots and created ample opportunities on the greens. Today, my approach shots were particularly good. My focus is on maintaining this approach and sticking to the fundamentals in the final round.”
