The overnight leaders, Arjun (68-69-69) and Yuvraj (70-67-69), who are not only close friends but also often share accommodation during tournaments, brought their total score to 10-under 206 on Thursday, increasing their lead to two strokes over the rest of the competitors.
Saptak Talwar from Greater Noida (67-72-69) moved up two spots to take third place at eight-under 208 after his third round of 69. Honey Baisoya from Delhi and Harendra Gupta from Chandigarh both recorded scores of 72, placing them in a tie for fourth at six-under 210.
Arjun Sharma (68) was another player from Greater Noida in the top ten, finishing the day in a tie for sixth at five-under 211. Arjun made two eagles during his round of 68 on Thursday. Local teenager Sukhman Singh, the only amateur to qualify, shot a 73, landing him in a tie for 39th at three-over 219.
On a day marked by swirling winds that challenged many players, Arjun Prasad kicked off strongly with three birdies in the first five holes, converting two 10-foot putts.
After a bogey on the eighth hole, the 26-year-old Arjun, who is pursuing his first title, bounced back with birdies on the 10th and 17th (par-3), showcasing impressive bunker and tee shots. Despite a bogey on the final 18th hole, Prasad maintained his lead.
“The shifting winds made several holes play differently today. Adjusting my tee shots and lines was essential, and I managed to do that effectively,” Arjun stated.
“Competing alongside my great friend and roommate, Yuvraj, is always enjoyable. We often practice together, pushing each other to perform better. I’m looking forward to playing in the final round with him in the leader group again,” he added.
In contrast to the previous round, Yuvraj Sandhu had a slower start on Day Three, bogeying the first hole. The 28-year-old, who has won 11 titles including two this year on the PGTI, made a strong comeback with three birdies from the second to the fifth holes.
Yuvraj, currently in third place on the PGTI Order of Merit, recorded three additional birdies and two bogeys on his back nine, experiencing mixed results.
“Today was a rollercoaster for me as my putting was inconsistent, particularly on the back nine. However, I view today’s ups and downs positively, anticipating a much stronger final round. I’m eager to compete again with my friend Arjun in the leader group for the second time this season. He’s been diligently refining his game,” Sandhu concluded.
