ILT20: Tom Kohler-Cadmore of Sharjah Warriorz Acknowledges Coaches for Encouraging Freedom in Play

Sharjah, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Sharjah Warriorz have made an outstanding entry into ILT20 Season 3 by securing a thrilling three-wicket victory against the Gulf Giants on Sunday. This exciting match at the Dubai International Stadium saw the Warriorz uplifted by captain Tim Southee taking three wickets alongside Tom Kohler-Cadmore scoring an unbeaten 83.

Opening the innings for Sharjah Warriorz, Tom Kohler-Cadmore played a crucial role, batting through the innings and guiding the team to victory on the last ball of the match.

“It’s incredible to kick off the tournament with a win, especially a close one. We would have felt devastated if we had lost that. I wanted to take full responsibility for the last over. There’s been a few nail-biting games already, and we anticipate more to come this season,” he shared.

Regarding the strategy during the chase, the England batter remarked, “We had a clear directive, which was to approach the game aggressively, and we executed that from the start. It’s exhilarating to be part of a team that embraces such freedom to take risks. I believe our team is genuinely exciting, and the freedom we enjoy is attributed to JP Duminy and the coaching staff, who have empowered us to express ourselves.”

Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who was named the Player of the Match, hit six boundaries and four sixes in his innings. Additionally, he contributed with two significant catches. Captain Tim Southee praised his teammate, stating, “The way Tom Kohler-Cadmore performed tonight was fantastic. We boast a deep batting lineup, and it’s evident how valuable it is to take wickets consistently. It was gratifying to emerge victorious in this match.”

The England opener, familiar with the UAE, expressed his fondness for playing in the region. Reflecting on his experiences in the UAE, he commented, “Dubai and the UAE are remarkable places, with brilliant fans and favorable conditions for us. The setup of the Sharjah Warriorz is fantastic, and being here is one of my yearly highlights. It’s a pity the tournament isn’t extended a bit longer.”

“I aim to go out and perform to help my team win games; that’s my primary focus. Whenever I step onto the field, I strive to secure victories for my team,” the right-handed batter concluded.
