New Delhi, May 10 (NationPress) The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to make a comeback soon. Sources from IANS indicate that the remaining match schedule could be unveiled as early as Sunday, following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. A source revealed to IANS that the main hurdle for the teams now is persuading foreign players to return to the tournament, especially after ensuring safe arrangements for their departures.
"We anticipate that the new tournament schedule may be announced tomorrow or within the next few days. However, many international players have already returned home, and convincing them to return to India for the matches poses a significant challenge," the source added.
"It’s important to recognize that players need time to come back and participate in the rescheduled IPL 2025 matches," they emphasized.
"Furthermore, all remaining games must be concluded by May 25, as the India 'A' squad is scheduled to depart for their tour of England," another source from the BCCI informed IANS.
The BCCI must also make a decision regarding the IPL 2025 match between PBKS and DC, which was halted after just 10.1 overs due to air and drone strikes from Pakistan, causing blackouts in nearby regions like Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur.
Once the match was suspended, spectators were calmly evacuated, and players along with staff from both teams returned safely to their hotels under strict security measures.
After the match was called off, the BCCI suspended the IPL 2025 for a week on Friday due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The tournament had already completed 58 matches, with 12 remaining in the league stage, followed by playoffs.
A franchise official confirmed they are waiting for the updated schedule. "Honestly, we are still uncertain about the revised tournament timeline. It’s only been a little over 1.5 hours since the ceasefire was declared. We await updates from the IPL and BCCI before we can proceed with our plans," the official stated to IANS.
