Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Shooting League of Karnataka is gearing up for its inaugural competitive season with a new franchise-based format designed to enhance exposure and competitive opportunities for shooters throughout Karnataka. With an impressive 136 shooters registered for this event, the league represents a pivotal advancement in fortifying the state's shooting ecosystem.
Conducted under the auspices of the Shooting League of India (SLI), the league's schedule kicked off with the Team Owners’ Auction on February 12, followed by a Players’ Auction on February 17.
Qualification rounds for the League are set for February 28, with the semi-finals and finals taking place on March 1.
The franchises participating include Caliber Capitals, Trigger Action, Bangalore Brigade, Redrum, Mangalore Raptors, Top Guns, Sniper Squad, and Hubballi Shooting Star.
Comprising eight teams in a mixed format, each team will consist of 11 players across various events. A crucial rule requires that every team member competes in at least one qualifying match, ensuring widespread participation.
Similar to the SLI, the Shooting League of Karnataka will host events in multiple disciplines, such as 10m Air Pistol (Men & Women), 10m Air Rifle (Men & Women), 25m Pistol, 50m Rifle, Trap, and Skeet. The League will adopt a format that is shorter and more compact than the traditional ISSF Rules.
Among the 136 registered athletes, eight are international competitors, all hailing from Karnataka, showcasing the rich talent pool within the state. Eight franchises acquired 88 shooters during the auction, with each team allocated a virtual budget of INR 1.75 Crores.
The top bids at the auction included Krutharth Devang Savyasachi (Virtual INR 44,00,000, Bangalore Brigade), Anushka H Thokur (Virtual INR 43,00,000, Bangalore Brigade), Mamit Gowda (Virtual INR 42,00,000, Mangalore Raptors), Nawabzada M.D. Omar Bin Jung (Virtual INR 41,00,000, Hubballi Shooting Star), and Shravan M Shashidhar (Virtual INR 35,00,000, Top Guns).
By integrating a structured league format, athlete participation requirements, and competitive bidding, the Shooting League of Karnataka aspires to establish a sustainable pathway for shooters while amplifying the sport's visibility and value across the state.
