Kandy (Sri Lanka), Dec 17 (NationPress) Kusal Mendis delivered an astounding performance, scoring an unbeaten 79 runs off just 23 balls as the Jaffna Titans maintained their dominance in the inaugural Lanka T10 Super League with another impressive win, defeating the Colombo Jaguars by nine wickets at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

While chasing a target of 100 runs, Jaffna faced an early setback when Kevin Wickham was dismissed for 0, trapped in front of the stumps by Angelo Mathews after just three balls.

However, wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis took charge, showcasing his power-hitting skills to guide the team to victory by the sixth over. Mendis' remarkable innings included five sixes and 11 fours, contributing to a stellar unbroken partnership of 98 runs for the second wicket alongside Charith Asalanka, who added 16 not out off 8 deliveries.

Earlier, the Jaffna bowlers consistently took wickets, leaving Colombo in a tough position at 28/5 before they managed to post 99/8 in their 10 overs.

Dunith Wellalage was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for just 5 runs in two overs, while Lahiru Kumara secured two wickets. David Wiese and George Garton each picked up one wicket.

The Jaguars struggled to find their rhythm, although Ramesh Mendis' late efforts boosted their score, finishing with 28 not out off 16 balls. The Titans have now secured their playoff spot with four victories and 10 points from six matches.
