Lanka T10 Super League: Jaffna Titans Dominate Hambantota Bangla Tigers in Opening Match

Kandy (Sri Lanka), Dec 11 (NationPress) The Jaffna Titans delivered a strong performance against the Hambantota Bangla Tigers, winning by 8 wickets during the opening match of the inaugural edition of the Lanka T10 Super League, which commenced energetically at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, the Titans opted to bowl first, starting off on a high note as fast bowler Mohammad Amir dismissed Kusal Perera on the first delivery.
Opener Mohammad Shahzad and captain Dasun Shanaka attempted to stabilize the innings for the Hambantota Bangla Tigers with a partnership consisting of 77 runs for the second wicket. Shahzad contributed 22 runs off 15 balls, while captain Shanaka took charge, scoring a rapid fifty. The right-handed batsman hammered 51 runs off just 17 balls, including five sixes and four fours.
However, following Shanaka's dismissal, the Hambantota side faced a collapse, quickly being reduced to 86/7 and eventually concluding their innings at 106/8 in 10 overs. Young Sri Lankan bowler Treeven Mathew stood out with impressive figures of 4/10 in just 2 overs. Amir, Pramod Madushan, and Dwaine Pretorius each secured one wicket.
In response, the Jaffna Titans lost an early wicket as Nuwanidu Fernando was dismissed by Isuru Udana for a duck. However, England's Tom Kohler-Cadmore showcased his form with an aggressive 57 not out off 21 balls, while Tom Abell added an unbeaten 33 runs off 19 deliveries to lead the Jaffna side to a convincing victory in just 8.1 overs.
