Kandy Bolts Triumph to Face Galle Marvels in Eliminator at Lanka T10 Super League

Kandy (Sri Lanka), Dec 17 (NationPress) Kandy Bolts clinched a vital win against Nuwara Eliya Kings by a margin of five runs, allowing them to advance to the Eliminator in the Lanka T10 Super League at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium here on Tuesday. Taking to the field first, Kandy benefited from notable batting displays by opener Pathum Nissanka and Shehan Jayasuriya, who together amassed a total of 111/9 in their 10 overs.
Nissanka unleashed an explosive 41 runs off just 14 balls, while Jayasuriya contributed a rapid 33 runs off 11 deliveries. For the Kings, Kasun Rajitha stood out as the leading bowler, achieving an impressive four-wicket haul with figures of 4-16 in two overs. Meanwhile, Lahiru Madushanka also made his mark by taking two wickets for just 9 runs.
In the pursuit, Kyle Mayers and Avishka Fernando gave the Kings a strong beginning, putting together a partnership of 42 for the first wicket within 3.2 overs. However, Mayers' exit for 36 off 15 deliveries led to a slight downturn in momentum, and despite Fernando scoring an unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, the Kings ended their innings at 106/5 in 10 overs.
Hambantota Bangla Tigers Celebrate Victory
In another match, the Hambantota Bangla Tigers overcame the Galle Marvels by five wickets in a low-scoring contest. Chasing a modest target of 83 runs, the Bangla Tigers faced early setbacks but captain Shevon Daniel and Mosaddek Hossain steadied the ship and guided their team to victory in the final over. Both Jeffrey Vandersay and Binura Fernando claimed two wickets each.
The Galle Marvels had been restricted to a mere 82/6 in their 10 overs as the Hambantota Bangla Tigers' bowling unit kept tight control over the game. Shakib Al Hasan was the standout performer for the Marvels, scoring 43 not out from 19 balls.
With this victory, the Bangla Tigers ascend to the second position on the points table and will now face the Jaffna Titans in Qualifier 1. The Galle Marvels are set to clash with the Kandy Bolts in the Eliminator match. The winner of Qualifier 1 will secure a place in the final, while the losing team will compete in Qualifier 2 against the winner of the Eliminator.
