Kandy, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Galle Marvels achieved a convincing victory against the Kandy Bolts, winning by seven wickets in the Lanka T10 Super League held at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Tasked with a target of 101 runs, the Marvels reached their goal in the 8th over. Despite a solid start, Galle encountered a few quick dismissals, finding themselves at 39/3 when Andre Fletcher and Shakib Al Hasan stepped in to stabilize the innings.
The duo formed an impressive, unbeaten partnership of 63 runs for the fourth wicket. Fletcher scored a remarkable 41 not out off 21 balls, featuring four sixes and three fours, while Shakib contributed 20 not out off just 8 balls, guiding the team to victory.
Earlier on, the Kandy Bolts had a shaky start to their innings, losing two wickets for just five runs. However, Dinesh Chandimal, the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter, played a stellar role and propelled the team to 100/5 in their allotted 10 overs. Chandimal scored a fantastic 66 runs off 25 balls before being dismissed by Jeffrey Vandersay.
The highlight for Galle Marvels was Binura Fernando, who impressed with his economical bowling, finishing with figures of 3-9 in two overs, earning him the title of Player of the Match.
