Kandy (Sri Lanka), Dec 12 (NationPress) The Jaffna Titans achieved a decisive victory against the Colombo Jaguars by 40 runs, adding two crucial points to their standings in the Lanka T10 Super League at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on a rain-affected second day.

The Titans capitalized on outstanding performances from opener Kusal Mendis and his compatriot Charith Asalanka, amassing an impressive 138/6 in just 10 overs. Mendis delivered a quickfire 37 off 19 balls, while Asalanka excelled with a remarkable 56 off 24, including five sixes and an equal number of fours. For the Jaguars, captain Angelo Mathews and Ali Khan each claimed two wickets.

Subsequently, the Titans' bowlers, particularly the talented Treveen Mathew, who has garnered acclaim for his spin bowling, effectively restricted the Jaguars to 98/6. The Colombo Jaguars struggled to gain momentum, losing wickets consistently throughout their innings. Treveen Mathew showcased his talent with impressive bowling figures of 3/18 in 20 balls.

Earlier on Day 2, the opening match between the Kandy Bolts and Nuwara Eliya Kings was abandoned due to rain after just 3.3 overs. The Kandy Bolts, batting first, had managed 38/1 with Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka unbeaten on 26 off 11 when the rain interrupted play. Additionally, the second match between the Galle Marvels and Hambantota Bangla Tigers did not take place as it was abandoned before the toss.
