Kandy (Sri Lanka), Dec 10 (NationPress) Renowned cricket talents such as England's Jason Roy, Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh, Dasun Shanaka of Sri Lanka, Muhammad Amir of Pakistan, George Munsey from Scotland, and local sensation Avishka Fernando are eager to lead their teams to victory in the 2024 Lanka T10 Super League, which is set to kick off on Wednesday.
The T10 competition will unfold at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, featuring six vibrant franchises -- Colombo Jaguars, Galle Marvels, Hambantota Bangla Tigers, Jaffna Titans, Kandy Bolts, and Nuwara Eliya Kings -- promising an exhilarating style of cricket in the beautiful setting of Kandy.
The finalized player roster, showcasing a remarkable blend of international stars and local talents, was unveiled on Tuesday, igniting the anticipation for the T10 competition. The 2024 Lanka T10 Super League is organized and supported by Sri Lanka Cricket.
This league has assembled an extraordinary array of talent across all franchises. The Colombo Jaguars, led by the legendary Sri Lankan bowler Chaminda Vaas as head coach, will feature notable players like former Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews, along with promising talent Matheesha Pathirana, versatile Kamindu Mendis, Pakistan's Asif Ali, and England's explosive opener Jason Roy.
The Galle Marvels, under the experienced coaching of Graham Ford, boasts a strong lineup including spin maestro Maheesh Theekshana, dynamic Bhanuka Rajapaksa, pace bowler Binura Fernando, and English stars Alex Hales and Luke Wood, as informed by the organizers in a release on Tuesday.
The Hambantota Bangla Tigers display their prowess with Shanaka at the helm, supported by Shevon Daniel, local hero Kusal Janith Perera, and Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai. The Jaffna Titans, led strategically by James Foster, includes a talented roster featuring the skilled Muhammad Amir, dynamic Kusal Mendis, and versatile Charith Asalanka.
The Kandy Bolts, coached by Sachith Pathirana, unites a stellar combination including seasoned player Dinesh Chandimal, skilled opener Pathum Nissanka, and international talent George Munsey.
The Nuwara Eliya Kings, under Julian Wood's guidance, completes the lineup with a formidable squad featuring Avishka Fernando, Saurabh Tiwary, pace bowler Kasun Rajitha, and talented players Dushan Hemantha, Kyle Mayers, and Benny Howell.
The tournament's opening day promises an exciting triple-header at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, starting with the Jaffna Titans against Hambantota Bangla Tigers in the inaugural match.
