PKL Season 11: Patna Pirates Triumph Over Puneri Paltan in Nail-Biting Encounter

Pune, Dec 16 (NationPress) In a gripping encounter, the Patna Pirates defeated the defending champions Puneri Paltan with a score of 37-32 in a Season 11 match of the Pro Kabaddi League, held at the Badminton Hall of the Balewadi Sports Complex on Monday. The Pirates received a significant boost from Devank, who netted 11 points, while Ayan added nine and Shubham Shinde achieved a High-5. The Puneri Paltan fought valiantly, with Abinesh Nadarajan contributing seven points and Aman also recording a High-5.
The match commenced with both teams sharing tackle points in the early stages, indicating a challenging start for the Pirates’ raiders, Devank and Ayan. In the fifth minute, Pankaj Mohite delivered the first raid point, giving the Puneri Paltan a narrow lead.
Abinesh Nadarajan, Aman, and Sanket were pivotal in defence for the Puneri Paltan, making it difficult for the Patna Pirates’ raiders. However, midway through the first half, both teams were even, with the Pirates beginning to assert themselves.
Ayan spearheaded the attack for the Pirates, but Akash Shinde and Pankaj Mohite of the Puneri Paltan ensured the opposition remained close.
With approximately five minutes left in the first half, Abinesh Nadarajan executed a Super Tackle on Devank, allowing the defending champions to regain the lead. The first half concluded with the Puneri Paltan ahead at 16-13.
The Patna Pirates launched into the second half with an All Out against the Puneri Paltan. Following this, Devank eliminated the deficit, bringing both teams back to equality. The three-time champions commenced the second half assertively, with Devank appearing formidable.
Nearing the half-hour mark, Aman achieved his High-5 for the Puneri Paltan, but Devank then executed an All Out, giving the Patna Pirates a five-point advantage.
In the final moments of the match, the Puneri Paltan made a valiant attempt to stage a comeback, but the Patna Pirates managed to keep them at bay. With five minutes remaining, the margin was reduced to three points. Ultimately, the Patna Pirates sealed their victory in the last couple of minutes.
