Tangerang (Indonesia), Aug 14 (NationPress) Varoon Parmar, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army, shot rounds of 72, 68, and 76, finishing with an even-par 216 to claim the fifth position overall and the runner-up title in Category C (ages 38 to 46) at the inaugural Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Mid-Amateur Championship, organized in collaboration with the Indonesia Golf Association here on Thursday.
As a member of the four-player team dispatched by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), the 43-year-old Parmar led during the second round with a remarkable score of four-under 68 at the Graham Marsh-designed Gading Raya Golf Club. Earlier this June, Parmar triumphed in the World Military Golf Championships held in Kenya and was the runner-up in the IGU Senior & Mid-Amateur Golf Championship earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Arjun Singh finished third in Category C and seventh overall with a score of two-over 218 after 54 holes. Ranjit Singh secured a tied ninth position at four-over 220 (73-72-75), while Simarjeet Singh concluded in joint 21st place at 14-over 230 (80-76-74).
Additionally, Ashish Kapoor, who participated as a private entry, achieved a tied second place in Category D (47 years and above).

Arjun Singh noted that representing the nation during Independence Day week was a moving experience.
