Yuva Kabaddi Series: Chandigarh Chargers Hand UP Falcons Their First Defeat

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Dec 28 (NationPress) On the thrilling sixth day of the 11th Yuva Kabaddi Series, held at the Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, the Chandigarh Chargers, Sindh Sonics, Vizag Victors, and Hyderabad Hurricanes triumphed in their respective matches in Division 2.

In the opening match of the day, the Chandigarh Chargers delivered a commanding 37-27 victory against the previously unbeaten UP Falcons. The standout player for the Chargers was Bablu Singh, who exhibited an impressive all-around performance with 15 points, while Niket Singh added a valuable High 5. Despite Ashish Bhati's eight raid points for the UP Falcons, the team struggled to recover from the Chargers' assertive display.

The second match saw the Sindh Sonics overpower the Panchala Pride with a score of 40-29, leaving the Pride winless in their five matches. The Sonics were fueled by outstanding performances from Kuldeep Kumar and Balraj Singh, both achieving Super 10s, complemented by Lovepreet Singh’s High 5. Although Rahul Kumar fought hard for the Panchala Pride with eight raid points and six tackle points, his efforts weren’t enough to shift the outcome.

The third match featured the Vizag Victors as they secured a 37-28 win against the Chola Veerans. Pirati Srisivatejesh, coming off the bench, made a significant mark with a Super 10, while Samara Simha Reddy Gunimini also contributed effectively. Despite A. Balabharathi achieving a High 5 for Chola Veerans, their raiding unit’s lack of performance left them trailing the Victors.

In the day's final match, the Hyderabad Hurricanes put on a dominant display against the Delhi Dhurandhars, winning 43-28. Suresh Oruganti shone brightly for Hyderabad, also scoring a Super 10, while Banothu Santhosh made a notable all-around contribution, including a High 5. For Delhi, Kunal Tanwar stood out with nine raid points, but it wasn't sufficient to challenge the Hurricanes' stronghold.

The event will feature an exhibition match on Sunday as part of the 16th Isha Gramotsavam. This special game will see the Delhi Dhurandhars face off against the Karpagam Raiders in a unique venue in front of the iconic Adiyogi statue at the Isha Foundation.

The Isha Gramotsavam is renowned as India’s largest rural sports festival, with participation from five states and one union territory, involving over 43,000 players (including more than 10,000 women), 35,000 villages, and 4,858 teams. This year’s festivities will be honored by the presence of the Sports Minister of India, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with cricket legend Virender Sehwag as chief guests.
