Yuva Kabaddi Series: Chandigarh Chargers Dominates and Strengthens Their Lead

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Dec 30 (NationPress) The Chandigarh Chargers, Chola Veerans, Vizag Victors, and UP Falcons triumphed in their respective matches during the 11th edition of the Yuva Kabaddi Series, showcasing a series of high-scoring contests on the seventh day of Division 2 at the Karpagam Academy of Higher Education.

The initial match of the day featured a commanding display by the top-ranked Chandigarh Chargers, who overwhelmed the Sindh Sonics with a significant 56-26 victory. Dinesh and Lakshay stood out, with Dinesh contributing an impressive 17 raid points, while Lakshay excelled defensively with a High 5. For the Sindh Sonics, Dheeraj also achieved a High 5, but the lack of support from his teammates proved detrimental on that Sunday.

In the subsequent match, the Chola Veerans achieved a decisive 62-18 victory against the struggling Panchala Pride, who remain winless in the tournament. Raider Iyyappan Veerapandian spearheaded the attack for the Veerans with a Super 10, bolstered by strong performances on both ends. Panchala's Ghanshyam Das also managed to secure a Super 10, but the absence of team synergy resulted in a heavy loss.

The third game provided much-needed excitement as the Hampi Heroes and Vizag Victors fought to a thrilling 36-36 draw. Hampi’s defense was fortified by Akash Mohan, achieving eight tackle points, while Vizag's Gali Lakshma Reddy shined with nine raid points, keeping the game finely balanced.

In the day's concluding match, the UP Falcons soared to a 44-21 victory against the Hyderabad Hurricanes. Anand Yadav emerged as the standout player, coming off the bench to earn a Super 10. However, the Hyderabad Hurricanes struggled throughout the match, with Suresh Oruganti finishing as their leading scorer with a mere six raid points.

The day commenced with an exhibition match on Sunday as part of the 16th Isha Gramotsavam. This special game featured the Delhi Dhurandhars facing off against the Karpagam Raiders in a unique venue in front of the iconic Adiyogi statue at the Isha Foundation. The Karpagam Raiders overcame the Delhi Dhurandhars with a score of 36-22 in an exhilarating contest.

The Isha Gramotsavam is recognized as Bharat’s largest rural sports festival, involving five states and one union territory, with over 43,000 players (including more than 10,000 women), 35,000 villages, and 4,858 teams. This year’s celebration was honored by the presence of India’s Sports Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with cricket legend Virender Sehwag as chief guests.
