Bengaluru Metro: MP Tejasvi Surya Announces First Yellow Line Train Dispatch from West Bengal on January 6

Bengaluru, Jan 2 (NationPress) Bengaluru South MP and BJP National Yuva Morcha President Tejasvi Surya announced on Thursday that the initial train of the Yellow Line of Namma Metro is prepared for dispatch from West Bengal to Bengaluru on January 6.
“The long-awaited Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line is about to commence operations. It’s a commitment,” he stated, emphasizing that the anticipation for the Yellow Line will soon come to an end.
“We now have the first train ready for transfer to Bengaluru on January 6. Titagarh Rail Systems has pledged to deliver the second train by the end of January or the first week of February, and the third by April,” Surya revealed.
They plan to deliver one train each month and aim to increase this to two trains monthly by September, he further added.
Previously, the MP explained, “The primary cause for the delay in operations is the lack of available trains. Nevertheless, there is finally some positive news regarding this matter. Over recent months, I have been consistently engaging with the train manufacturers - Titagarh Rail Systems - to hasten production.”
“The Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) will visit the manufacturing facility on January 6, to flag off the train to Bengaluru and will also inspect the plant to facilitate further progress,” Surya mentioned.
“I will also be present in Kolkata for this event. Like you, I share the frustration over the ongoing delays in the Yellow Line’s commencement,” he expressed.
Residents of Bengaluru heading towards the tech hub Electronics City are eagerly anticipating the commercial launch of the Yellow Line, which connects R.V. Road station to Bommasandra.
This 18.82-kilometer railway line will have 18 stations and promises to provide travelers with relief from traffic congestion. The Yellow Line was initially scheduled to be operational in 2024. Earlier, BMRCL stated that commercial operations would commence by the end of January 2025.
The Yellow Line links Electronics City, a hub for IT, BT, and tech MNCs, sprawling over 800 acres. Approximately 200 IT/ITES company campuses are located within Electronics City, including major offices of Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, Tech Mahindra, and Biocon. It is a significant tech center that has solidified the city’s status as the Silicon Valley of India.
