Patna, Jan 28 (NationPress) A serious misconduct allegation has arisen in the Darbhanga district of Bihar, where a station house officer (SHO) is accused of behaving inappropriately towards a woman doctor during a vehicle inspection. A video capturing the incident has gone viral on social media, igniting public outrage and raising significant concerns about police conduct and the safety of women.

According to the complaint, Harender Kumar, the in-charge of Beta police station, allegedly used abusive language, threatened the doctor, and even physically pushed her and her driver during the roadside check.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the doctor, along with her granddaughter and driver, was returning home from Patna in a private vehicle. She stated that their car accidentally entered a one-way road, a minor traffic infraction that could have been addressed with a challan or other legal means. However, she claimed that the SHO lost his temper upon arrival.

She reported that the officer verbally assaulted her in public, pushed her driver, and misbehaved with her when she expressed her discontent.

The viral video reportedly shows the SHO shouting obscenities and displaying aggressive behavior, further intensifying the situation. The doctor alleged that she felt intimidated during the altercation.

This incident has provoked strong reactions, particularly as the complainant is a prominent and respected doctor in the area. Local residents pointed out that if such behavior can be directed at an educated woman in a public setting, it raises alarming questions about the safety of ordinary women.

The controversy deepens as this is not the first time SHO Harender Kumar has faced such accusations. Sources have indicated that he was previously accused of misconduct towards journalists, with complaints reaching higher officials, yet no substantial disciplinary action was taken.

The situation has gained political and administrative importance, particularly with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar scheduled to visit Darbhanga, and the state government has consistently emphasized its commitment to effective governance.

The doctor has called for an impartial investigation and strict action against the SHO if the allegations hold true. She emphasized that her objective is not personal revenge but to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
