Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 12 (NationPress) Harsh Vardhan Shringla, a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressed his belief on Sunday that if the BJP secures power in West Bengal after the Assembly elections slated for April 23 and 29, the issue of illegal infiltration will be eradicated entirely.
This statement follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurance during a campaign rally in Siliguri on the same day, promising to liberate the state from illegal infiltration.
"Prime Minister Modi has pledged to eliminate infiltration and corruption from Bengal, aiming to restore faith in the governance and its rule of law," Shringla remarked.
While attending the public rally in Siliguri, Shringla noted, "This Assembly constituency is bordered by Nepal on one side and Bhutan on the other. Directly behind us lies Bangladesh."
He pointed out the concern of illegal infiltrators coming from Bangladesh, stating, "As evidenced in Assam, this issue has been effectively addressed by the BJP government there. In contrast, the Trinamool Congress has made no efforts in West Bengal."
Highlighting deficiencies in the fencing along the Bangladesh border, Shringla stated, "The Trinamool government failed to allocate the necessary land for fencing, allowing infiltrators to continue their entry into the state."
Accusing the Trinamool Congress-led government of acting in its political self-interest, he added, "This situation is detrimental to our society. A BJP-led government will put an end to this issue completely."
Shringla confidently asserted, "Illegal infiltration in regions like North Bengal and Siliguri will cease under our governance."
Attendees at PM Modi's rally shared their sentiments as well; one artist told IANS, "I studied in a school associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during my childhood, and I felt compelled to meet him after my experiences there."
Another student, who had created a sketch of the Prime Minister, expressed his desire to present it to him, stating, "I brought this as a gift for PM Modi."
During the Siliguri rally, PM Modi criticized the Trinamool Congress, accusing them of prioritizing appeasement politics, which he claimed is evident in the annual budget allocations of the West Bengal government.
He further alleged that the state government obstructs the Union's implementation of welfare projects in West Bengal.
