Mhow, Jan 27 (NationPress) Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, urging him to visit the Ambedkar memorial established by the BJP government in Mhow to seek atonement for the disrespect shown towards Babasaheb.

Rahul Gandhi was present in Mhow, the birthplace of Ambedkar, to inaugurate the party's nationwide initiative 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan'.

"I encourage you to visit the magnificent memorial constructed at the birthplace of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji in Mhow, established by the Bharatiya Janata Party administration. Moreover, reflect on your actions by closing your eyes before Babasaheb's memorial, as you and your party have consistently disrespected him. Following independence, the Congress governments dominated Madhya Pradesh for years but failed to hold any events at his birthplace or to construct a memorial," Chouhan remarked in a statement.

The former Chief Minister emphasized that after Independence, the Congress party ruled Madhya Pradesh for several years but did not host any event at Ambedkar's birthplace or consider building a memorial there.

Chouhan noted that when the BJP administration assumed power in Madhya Pradesh, then Chief Minister Sundar Lal Patwa conducted the Bhoomi Pujan for the memorial in Mhow. However, when the Congress government took over, the construction was halted.

"Once the BJP government regained power, we erected a divine and magnificent memorial to honor Babasaheb. Currently, the Ambedkar Maha Kumbh is held in Madhya Pradesh, attracting thousands of Dr. Ambedkar followers to this site," Chouhan added.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is slated to visit the Dr. Ambedkar memorial around 3:45 p.m. to pay his respects.

He will be joined by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as they visit various locations in Mhow. Additionally, members of the party's Working Committee (CWC) will also attend the rally in Mhow.

Previously, state Congress chief Jitu Patwari stated that the rally is anticipated to be historic, with numerous party workers from across the state expected to participate. He remarked that every Congress member was enthusiastic about the rally and eager to voice their opposition to the disrespect shown towards Ambedkar from his birthplace.
