Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guna, January 9 (NationPress) Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated on Friday that the recent agreements between the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Department of Post are poised to significantly enhance economic empowerment in rural India, particularly benefiting women and farmers.
While inaugurating a sub-post office in the Badarvas area of his Lok Sabha constituency, Guna, Minister Scindia emphasized that this facility, equipped with modern amenities, will facilitate the management of pensions, subsidies, and savings. The postmen will serve as vital links in promoting self-sufficiency in rural India and connecting communities to Digital India.
During his address, he highlighted that the agreements signed with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare aim to ensure the swift, secure, and reliable testing of agricultural inputs, thereby shielding farmers from counterfeit and substandard products.
Scindia pointed out that the first agreement focuses on real-time monitoring of fertilizer distribution, enhancing transparency, while the second agreement strives to empower women economically by encouraging them to open accounts with the India Post Payment Bank.
Importantly, these memoranda of understanding were executed in the presence of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, alongside Scindia, in New Delhi on January 7.
The agreements will facilitate a nationwide logistics framework for the transportation of pesticide, seed, and fertilizer samples to designated laboratories.
India Post will manage the logistics from collection to delivery for inspectors dealing with pesticides, seeds, and fertilizers.
This partnership is part of a comprehensive online pesticide, seed, and fertilizer quality management initiative being developed by the Centre for Research and Industrial Staff Performance (CRISP).
