Kolkata, Feb 28 (NationPress) The retiring room and dormitory services will be temporarily halted at Howrah railway station, one of India’s busiest, for renovation, as announced by Eastern Railway (ER).
Details regarding the resumption of these services have not yet been disclosed.
"It has been decided to suspend Retiring Room and Dormitory services at Howrah station with immediate effect due to significant renovation work being conducted at the facility. This suspension will remain in place until further notice to ensure smooth progress of the renovation process," stated an official release from ER on Friday evening.
Howrah serves as a Grade A+ station under Indian Railways, with approximately 958 trains originating from it. This includes daily mail/express trains, as well as weekly, bi-weekly, and tri-weekly trains, in addition to suburban services.
As the largest railway terminus in the eastern and northeastern regions of the country, Howrah is a popular hub for many travelers.
