New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) In the midst of the global attention on the ongoing AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, India officially became a member of the Pax Silica declaration on Friday.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor expressed his enthusiasm regarding New Delhi's inclusion in this special coalition, stating, "I am very pleased that India has joined Pax Silica. It's a remarkable partnership that will continue to evolve from here."
The Pax Silica is a strategic coalition led by the US, dedicated to creating resilient supply chains for critical minerals and developing strong models of Artificial Intelligence.
India's formal entry into this strategic alliance is expected to bolster the framework, enhance technological cooperation, and improve the nation's capacity to utilize its resources related to rare earth minerals.
The US envoy also took to X, tweeting, "A GREAT day for our relationship. Today INDIA joins PAX SILICA!"
Following the signing of the Pax Silica Declaration, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jacob Helberg, Sergio Gor, and MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan gathered for a group photo, emphasizing India-US collaboration in critical technologies.
India's inclusion in this exclusive group marks a pivotal advancement in strengthening reliable semiconductor and technology supply chains.
Union Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the Pax Silica Declaration as a crucial milestone for India's expanding semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.
While addressing the media, Vaishnaw remarked, "Pax Silica is vital for semiconductor production, establishing supply chains, and chip design, which will significantly benefit India's electronics and semiconductor sector. Ten manufacturing plants are already in progress, and the first semiconductor plant will soon commence commercial operations. A complete ecosystem is forming in India, and Pax Silica will be indispensable for this, benefiting the youth of India."
Currently, the countries involved in this strategic alliance include Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Israel, and Australia. The UAE, Qatar, and Greece also joined the Pax Silica declaration last month, which is seen as a strategy to counter China’s influence in the rare earth mineral sector.
