Patna, April 7 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Rahul Gandhi, participated in the 'Palayan Roko, Naukri Do (Stop migration, provide jobs)' foot march in Begusarai on Monday to draw attention to pressing issues such as inflation, unemployment, and the migration of Bihar's youth to other states in search of employment.
In response, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad from JD(U) criticized this initiative, asserting that the Congress leader and his supporters were there to misguide the populace, claiming that the yatra lacks significance in the state.
He further remarked that the participants struggled to walk for even a few hours, noting that the foot march concluded in just 24 minutes.
Rajiv Ranjan Prasad stated in an interview with IANS, "They have arrived from Delhi asserting that Bihar faces migration and employment challenges and that they will address these issues once they are in power."
"I must emphasize that their intention is to mislead the public, as they couldn't even manage a few hours of walking. What connection do they have with the hardships of the unemployed? The foot march lasted only 24 minutes. The Congress is aware that the public will not genuinely believe in their commitment to tackling migration and employment concerns."
He continued, "The Congress has governed the nation for more than fifty years, and their policies, decisions, and widespread corruption have left the youth disillusioned. Migration persisted during their leadership, and the greatest moral burden of migration currently rests with the Congress and RJD. Importantly, this initiative was not aimed at us," he asserted.
He also noted, "Both Congress and RJD are under public scrutiny today, with citizens questioning them. In a state where Bihar's dynamic Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has generated 12 lakh jobs, and 38 lakh jobs are being created, alongside 92 lakh families receiving financial support of Rs 2 lakh each to start small businesses, what relevance does this padyatra hold? Not everyone requires such assistance."
Earlier on Monday, LoP Gandhi took part in the ongoing 'Palayan Roko, Naukri Do' padyatra in Begusarai district of Bihar.
Dressed in a white T-shirt, LoP Gandhi marched alongside several party leaders, including Kanhaiya Kumar and Bihar Congress President Rajesh Kumar.
A significant number of Congress leaders and supporters, along with members of its youth and student wings, carried party flags and placards demanding the urgent recruitment of personnel in the defence forces.
