Kolkata, Dec 10 (NationPress) The newly established party, led by the recently suspended Trinamool Congress legislator Humayun Kabir, will actively contest against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari in the upcoming Assembly elections next year.
“As previously mentioned, I will be presenting candidates from constituencies primarily inhabited by minorities across the state. Nonetheless, my party will uphold a fully secular ideology. I have also resolved to contest in both the Bhabanipur constituency in Kolkata against the Chief Minister and in Nandigram against the Leader of the Opposition,” Kabir stated during a press conference on Wednesday.
He further expressed his willingness to collaborate with other political entities in the state, excluding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress.
Kabir is set to reveal details about his new political party on December 22, including the names of its office-bearers. It is anticipated that the party will be named the 'National Conservative Party', although Kabir has neither confirmed nor denied this when questioned.
Meanwhile, the contributions received by the West Bengal Islamic Fund of India, the trust intended to manage the Babri Mosque in Beldanga, Murshidabad district, have surpassed Rs 3 crore.
Of this amount, over Rs 2.57 crore has been collected via online donations by scanning a QR code, while the rest consists of cash contributions. The manual counting of cash donations is still underway, with only six out of eleven trunks being fully processed as of Tuesday night.
The proposed Babri Mosque at Beldanga aims to replicate the original structure in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, which was demolished on December 6, 1992.
Kabir has already disclosed that the total project budget will be Rs 300 crore, which will also include the establishment of a school and a hospital on the land adjacent to the mosque.
