As per police sources, the Bihar couple boarded a bus at Mahajati Sadan in North Kolkata. Upon disembarking, they realized their bag had been taken. It contained gold jewellery, cash, and important documents.

Following the incident on the afternoon of January 22, Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Katihar district in Bihar, filed a report at the Girish Park police station on the same day.

According to the complaint, the thief stole two gold bangles, a necklace, and a bracelet from his wife’s bag, totaling a weight of 53 grams. In addition to the jewellery, Rs 25,000 in cash and the original Aadhaar card were also taken.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges of crime in urban areas. With increasing reports of thefts in public transport, it is imperative for law enforcement to bolster security measures.
