Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 11 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday criticized the current DMK government in Tamil Nadu for its delays in executing several significant projects approved by the Centre, asserting that these setbacks damage the Union government's credibility and impede the state's development.
Speaking at a large rally for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Panchapur, Tiruchirappalli district, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of a strong NDA to expedite Tamil Nadu's progress and ensure that central schemes are implemented without hindrance.
PM Modi claimed that the DMK government, led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin since 2021, has neglected its duties and has delayed the rollout of crucial development projects.
He noted that initiatives aimed at providing housing for the rural poor, as well as major infrastructure projects like the proposed high-speed rail connectivity linking Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, have been poorly executed due to the state government's lack of collaboration.
“The DMK government is stalling the execution of multiple schemes merely to avoid credit to the central government,” PM Modi stated. “Such behavior only harms the citizens of Tamil Nadu.”
Stressing the vital role of agriculture in the state, the Prime Minister remarked that farmers in the Cauvery delta are essential for Tamil Nadu's food security.
However, he accused the DMK government of failing to increase the paddy support price and not developing adequate grain storage facilities.
“Where are the promised storage facilities for farmers?” PM Modi questioned, asserting that farmers remain in the dark.
He further alleged that the state government prioritizes political agendas over public welfare, protecting those accountable for administrative shortcomings.
The Prime Minister also addressed corruption concerns, alleging involvement of a minister from Tiruchirappalli in a job-for-money scandal, which devastated the hopes of young individuals from underprivileged and middle-class backgrounds seeking jobs.
Concerning law and order, PM Modi claimed there has been an uptick in crimes against women under the DMK government. “Women are compelled to live in fear under this administration,” he remarked, promising that the NDA alliance would ensure a safer environment where criminals, not citizens, would live in fear.
He mentioned that the Union government has provided loans worth Rs 16 lakh crore to Tamil Nadu and reiterated the need for improved collaboration between the Centre and the state to unlock the state's full development potential.
