NDA Criticizes Jaya Bachchan Over Comments on BJP MPs' Injuries

New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) NDA leaders on Friday expressed their disapproval of Samajwadi Party (SP) Rajya Sabha MP, Jaya Bachchan for her statements accusing injured BJP MPs and Nagaland BJP MP Phangnon Konyak of 'acting' and implying they 'deserved Oscars' for their performances.

Bachchan's remarks were made following a tense exchange in Parliament on Thursday during an INDIA bloc protest regarding alleged disrespect towards Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The BJP has charged the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, with intentionally pushing BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who reportedly sustained injuries.

In response, LoP Rahul Gandhi denied these claims and was reported by media sources stating that he himself was pushed during the altercation with BJP MPs.

Nagaland BJP MP Phangnon Konyak also claimed that the LoP 'shouted' at her and came too close, which made her feel 'uncomfortable.'

While addressing reporters during the INDIA bloc protest, Bachchan explained, 'We were making our way to the House, but these (NDA) leaders obstructed us at the stairs. If someone experiences a slight push in such a scenario, it's natural for them to stumble.'

'Sarangi ji, Rajput ji, and the MP from Nagaland have outperformed me in my acting career. They deserve Oscars and all accolades for their performances. This was as scripted as any film,' she continued.

Bachchan labeled the incident as 'man-made', accusing the BJP of utilizing 'baseless allegations' to distract from the insult directed at Dr. Ambedkar and the ensuing protests.

NDA leaders promptly criticized the SP MP's comments, claiming they displayed insensitivity and diminished the role of women parliamentarians.

BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat expressed to IANS, 'She originates from a world where everything seems dramatic to her. She relishes creating drama, even when the Speaker calls her by name.'

Sehrawat elaborated that the INDIA bloc protests had been ongoing near Parliament's gates, with NDA members using alternative routes.

'Yesterday, for the first time, the NDA protested against the INDIA bloc's cheap tactics. Instead of utilizing the safe pathway, Rahul Gandhi forced his way through the crowd, despite a safe passage being established, leading to injuries among our MPs, who required hospitalization,' she stated.

In light of Bachchan's 'deserve Oscars' comment, Sehrawat remarked, 'The citizens of this nation are already recognizing the BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term is our accolade.'

LJP (RV) MP, Shambhavi Choudhary, condemned Bachchan for questioning Konyak's account, stating, 'This demonstrates her mindset. Parliament should be a secure environment for women MPs, and any woman MP expressing discomfort must be acknowledged. Dismissing it as drama is extremely inappropriate.'

'Everything occurred on camera. Pratap Sarangi received five stitches; is that a 'drama' too? Such comments diminish the dignity of women representatives,' she told IANS.

Union Minister of State, B.L. Verma, accused LoP Rahul Gandhi of carelessly pushing through the crowd.

'Hundreds of MPs and media were witnesses. Pratap Sarangi was pushed, and I personally assisted Mukesh Rajput, who was injured,' he stated.

Verma questioned how Bachchan would feel if someone dismissed her injuries as 'drama.'

'Would she accept it if a similar remark was directed at her?' he inquired.

NDA leaders emphasized that the incident, captured on camera, speaks for itself and urged the Opposition to maintain parliamentary decorum instead of trivializing serious matters with derogatory comments.
