New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) Leaders from multiple political factions rallied on Thursday in support of the Women's Reservation Bill, deeming it of significant importance and essential for honoring women's dignity.

As the Parliament's Budget Session resumes on April 16, the core discussion will focus on the proposed modifications to the Women's Reservation Act, 2023 (Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam), formally known as the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message on Thursday, calling for united support for the Women’s Reservation Bill.

Rajeev Rai, an MP from the Samajwadi Party, remarked, "There is no opposition to the Women's Reservation Bill. We all desire that women receive respect and their rightful entitlements. But we seek respect in its genuine form."

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC welcomed the Bill, stating, "Where there is determination, there is a path. The Prime Minister has advocated for the Nari Shakti Vandan (Adhiniyam) without hesitation."

She implored all parties to demonstrate their political will regarding the Bill. "The Union Cabinet's decision and the ensuing discussions in Parliament are crucial moments for every political party to exhibit their political resolve," she conveyed to IANS.

Furthermore, Shaina NC pointed out, "Currently, there are 74 female MPs in a Lok Sabha with 543 members." She stressed that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam aims to secure 33% reservation for women MPs.

Notably, the Centre is reportedly considering increasing the Lok Sabha's total number of seats to 816, including a 273-seat allocation for women.

Shaina NC described the Bill as a "homage to every woman aspiring to contribute to a Viksit Bharat."

Congress MLA Manoj Biswas emphasized the importance of both caste and gender-based reservation.

He commented, "Reservation is critically important in Bihar. Without it, individuals like us would not have reached our current positions. We belong to the Other Backward Class community."

"Likewise, women's reservation is vital. Until reservation is a reality, the involvement of those at the grassroots level will remain unfulfilled. This is a noteworthy initiative," he concluded in his remarks to IANS.

Kanchanpreet Kaur from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) remarked on the Bill's importance, stating, "It carries immense significance. Even a woman managing her household sustains the family. In a similar vein, she will unify society, transcending caste divisions, leading to excellent outcomes."

However, NCP-SP MP Fauzia Khan cautioned that similar declarations about the Women's Reservation Bill were made back in 2023.

She told IANS, "Similar claims were made in 2023 by the BJP-led Central government, asserting this was a historic decision and law, yet it never came to fruition. Three years have elapsed without progress."

"Women are being deceived in this nation, which is quite unacceptable," Khan asserted.

She called for women to receive reservation as their right.

She added, "In accordance with their population, women should have a voice in Parliament and state legislatures. Not only in legislatures but also in the judiciary, bureaucracy, and corporate sectors, equal representation is imperative for women."

According to DMK spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan, the Women's Reservation Bill has faced delays.

"The Bill has been pending since the Congress was in power. What has Prime Minister Narendra Modi been doing for the past 12 years? He is now serving as Prime Minister for the third term," he stated.
