Mumbai, Feb 10 (NationPress) Comedian Sunil Pal has vehemently condemned fellow comedian Samay Raina and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia for their purported use of 'abusive language' on the show “India's Got Latent.”
In a recent interview with IANS, Pal remarked, “Do not refer to them as stand-up comedians. That would undermine genuine stand-up comedy. They are uneducated individuals deserving to be treated like terrorists.”
“Our youth aspire to become responsible and cultured members of reputable families. Yet, these so-called comedians are showcased on public platforms where they engage in vulgarity and offensive speech. Ironically, the event organizers are generally well-educated individuals. Instead of sharing meaningful messages, they are endorsing obscenity,” he continued.
Sunil Pal further stated, “They hide behind the notion of freedom of speech to rationalize their offensive actions. Freedom of speech is a right for everyone, but it doesn't grant them permission to insult others. If they wish to behave in such a manner, it should be done in private, not on public platforms like YouTube, where their content is available to all. They must face consequences for their actions. They should not be excused. If they are not held accountable, future generations may believe that success can be achieved through abusive behavior.”
Recently, during his appearance on Samay’s show, Ranveer Allahbadia posed a controversial question to a contestant regarding their parents' intimate relationship. His remarks quickly went viral on social media, inciting widespread backlash from netizens.
A formal complaint has been filed in Maharashtra's Mumbai against the well-known Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija, known as 'BeerBiceps' and ‘The Rebel Kid’, along with Samay Raina, concerning their alleged use of 'abusive language.'
In response to the outrage, Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging that his comments were “not appropriate” and “not even funny.”
In a video statement, the podcaster expressed, “My comment was inappropriate and not even humorous; comedy is not my area of expertise; I'm merely here to apologize. Many of you questioned if this is how I utilize my platform; clearly, this is not my intention.”
Ranveer continued, “I will not provide any context or justification for what occurred. I am simply offering an apology. I had a lapse in judgment; it was not acceptable of me. The podcast is viewed by individuals of all ages, and I do not want to be perceived as someone who disrespects family. I need to utilize this platform more wisely; this has been my takeaway from this entire experience. I promise to improve; I have requested the producers to eliminate the insensitive segment from the video. I apologize and hope you can forgive me as a human being.”
