Tejashwi Yadav Criticizes Amit Shah for Comments on Ambedkar

Patna, Dec 19 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and a key member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his controversial statements concerning B.R. Ambedkar, who is widely acknowledged as the architect of India’s Constitution.

Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Tejashwi labeled Shah's comments as "deeply objectionable" and suggested they demonstrate the broader agenda of the BJP and RSS.

The RJD leader further claimed that Shah’s remarks unveiled the true motives of the BJP and RSS, pointing specifically to the "17 seconds" of Shah's speech as profoundly revealing.

Yadav stated, "The BJP and RSS have a history of targeting renowned leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Karpoori Thakur, Jawaharlal Nehru, and now Ambedkar. Their past (Jan Sangh and now RSS) did not contribute to India’s independence, and they are resorting to these attacks because they have no achievements to show."

He further accused the RSS and Jan Sangh of having "surrendered" during the British colonial period, an assertion aimed at diminishing their credibility compared to the exalted figures of the freedom struggle.

Tejashwi emphasized the importance of B.R. Ambedkar for the citizens of Bihar and the entire nation, referring to him as a source of "fashion, passion, inspiration, and motivation".

His comments were part of a wider denunciation by the RJD against Shah's contentious remarks about Ambedkar.

Other RJD leaders echoed Tejashwi’s sentiments, also criticizing Shah's statement.

RJD MLA Shiv Chandra Ram directed his ire at two Union Ministers — Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi — for their silence on the matter, despite their affiliations with the Dalit and Mahadalit communities.

Ram accused both Union Ministers of neglecting to condemn Amit Shah's objectionable remarks and even alleged that the two leaders were "laughing" during Shah's comments in Parliament.

"We are extremely disappointed that Paswan and Manjhi, who profess to represent Dalit and Mahadalit interests, appeared indifferent to the disrespect directed at Ambedkar, who is venerated as a hero in these communities. These leaders seem more concerned with their own families and personal ambitions than genuinely advocating for the welfare of Dalits and Mahadalits," he expressed.
