Patna, Sep 6 (NationPress) Tension has engulfed the Rajapakar police station area in Vaishali district of Bihar following a brutal assault on a police team late Friday night.
Eyewitnesses report that the violence stemmed from a monetary dispute involving an ice cream vendor.
Several officers, including the chief of Mahua police station, sustained severe injuries during the attack, prompting authorities to initiate a comprehensive crackdown on the assailants.
The incident resulted in numerous injuries among the police personnel. The Mahua police station chief Rajesh Ranjan and the driver of Dial 112 are currently in critical condition at a private hospital's ICU in Mahua.
Additionally, the health status of a female constable, Taranjana Kumari, is reported to be serious.
Other injured officers include ASI Sanjeev Paswan, ASI Mithilesh Kumar, station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar, Dial 112 constable Deepak Kumar, and local watchman Karpuri Paswan, who required multiple stitches on his head.
One of the accused, Mohammad Isha, stated that the issue could have been resolved internally, but police involvement intensified the situation.
He claimed that the police exercised excessive force, harming locals and even trespassing into homes.
Post-attack, Mohammad Isha openly threatened law enforcement, cautioning them against returning to the area.
“If the police come here, we will slit their throats. If the administration arrives, ten locals will confront them. There are over 100 homes in our village. If they dare, let them enter,” stated one villager.
In response to the attack, a significant police presence has been established in the village. Authorities are in the process of identifying the attackers and filing an FIR against them.
The Circle Inspector of the Mahua range confirmed that the situation is now stable, and several suspects have been apprehended.
“The assault on the police team was carried out by a group from a specific community. Stringent action will be taken against the anti-social elements responsible for this violence,” he affirmed.
