Mumbai, April 15 (NationPress) A staggering 92 percent of software development leaders in India believe that AI agents will soon be as critical to app development as traditional software tools, according to a report released on Tuesday.

According to the report by Salesforce, the leading global CRM provider, software development leaders in India are quickly adopting AI agents, perceiving them as vital instruments that will spearhead the next phase of development.

Agentic AI enables developers to transition from mundane tasks such as coding and debugging to more strategic, impactful endeavors.

As developers increasingly utilize agents powered by low-code/no-code platforms, software development is becoming swifter, simpler, and more efficient than ever—regardless of the developers' coding expertise.

“The insight that 92 percent of software development leaders in India recognize agentic AI as essential highlights the direction the industry is taking. We are progressing toward a future where developers evolve from mere coders to orchestrators of intelligent systems—where agent-driven architectures empower teams to innovate rapidly and at scale,” stated Arun Parameswaran, EVP and MD of Salesforce-South Asia.

The extensive global research involved over 2,000 software development leaders, including 100 from India, and showcased near-universal enthusiasm for agentic AI.

The results indicate a definitive shift toward AI-driven development, with a strong consensus on the increasing significance of AI tools and agents in shaping the future of software engineering.

As reported, 100 percent of teams in India either use or plan to use AI for code generation, while 91 percent of teams expect to incorporate AI agents within the next two years.

Developers have indicated that updated infrastructure and enhanced testing capabilities, along with upskilling opportunities, are essential as they navigate the transition to constructing and deploying AI agents.

Approximately 85 percent of software development leaders acknowledge that their infrastructure requires upgrades to effectively build and deploy AI agents.

Furthermore, nearly 40 percent of software development leaders express that their testing processes are not fully equipped to support the development and deployment of AI agents, according to the report.
