New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has officially launched an action research initiative aimed at empowering over 500 women members of Self-Help Groups (SHG) throughout North India.
This project, in partnership with EXL, a prominent data analytics and solutions firm, focuses on enhancing financial and digital literacy among micro-level women entrepreneurs.
As part of this collaboration, a detailed handbook has been developed to act as a self-learning resource for these women entrepreneurs.
Funded by EXL's CSR programme, this initiative is being executed across six states: Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Rajasthan.
Prof. Seema Sharma, the principal investigator of the project from the Department of Management Studies at IIT Delhi, expressed, "We believe this collaborative initiative will generate a ripple effect, resulting in enhanced economic empowerment for women throughout India."
Satyajit Gupta, VP-2 and Head of India Legal at EXL, added, "By equipping women with crucial financial and digital competencies, we are promoting economic independence and contributing to the advancement of India's entrepreneurial ecosystem."
Additionally, a three-day workshop was held at IIT Delhi, focusing on empowering participants with practical knowledge essential for navigating the digital economy. Over 100 women entrepreneurs attended this workshop.
The workshop featured an experiential learning approach, including product showcases and engaging sessions that helped participants apply theoretical concepts to real business situations.
Prof. Gourav Dwivedi, the project Co-PI from the Department of Management Studies, remarked, "This initiative connects academia, grassroots entrepreneurs, and the marketplace."
The successful workshop at IIT Delhi represents the initial phase of this ambitious project, which is set to expand its influence in the upcoming months, further empowering women entrepreneurs and contributing to a more inclusive entrepreneurial environment in India.
